Beginners Weaving Workshop with Kate Koconis - Saturday, November 10
Beginners Weaving Workshop
by Kate Koconis of Little Black Sheep Studio
Saturday, November 10 at Lineage
Join us on Saturday, November 10 at Lineage for a hands-on afternoon workshop with weaver Kate Koconis of Little Black Sheep Studio. In this workshop, you will learn the basics of making a wall hanging on a frame loom and get to make a mini wall hanging of your very own to take home with you. She will go over the tools and set up of your loom for weaving. You'll learn how to do the basic plain weave, along with a couple additional techniques to add some depth and texture to your pieces, and we'll go over finishing your weaving so it can be hung up.
Workshop price is per person and includes instruction and all materials. The workshop will take place at the Lineage shop at Agora Downtown Market in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
About Kate Koconis:
Creator/owner of Little Black Sheep Studio, Kate is a weaver and fiber artist living and working out of her home studio in Providence Forge, VA. In addition to creating one of a kind woven wall hangings, blankets, scarves, and accessories, she enjoys sharing her passion for weaving with others.
"I originally learned how to weave while attending MICA in Baltimore for a BFA in Fiber Arts. I didn't finish with my degree but I have been weaving and exploring all the various fiber arts ever since, over 10 years now.
Using natural materials and traditional techniques, I create modern and unique textiles that will help to bring joy and comfort into any space. My hope is that those feelings are carried along with the textile, wherever it may end up.
I love what I do, and I love being able to share that with others."
